You will need to reach out to secure a slot on the alterations list up to 5 months ahead of time for peak season event dates. Cancellations do happen so check back to see if something opens up.
Peak wedding season in Oregon is April-September. If your wedding is during this time, please plan ahead and contact your preferred alteration studio up to a year in advance.
Follow up fittings: Depending on what alterations the client is having done there can be 2-5 follow up fittings. Each gown is different and each client has different requests for their gown. A timeline for follow-up fittings will be made after the initial consultation when the scope of work is determined.
Wedding gown fittings take approximately 45min.
You will need to bring your bra, slip and shoes you will be wearing at the event if they are needed with your gown. Rethread Alterations has bra cups size A-H that can be sewn into the gown. Please let me know your size when booking so I am sure to have it on hand or it can be ordered.

For dresses with a train you will be shown bustle options to choose the best look for your wedding budget.
If you are having something custom made or added to the gown it is best to order the fabric at the same time you order your gown from the dress designer. This way it is the exact match in color, texture and fabric that you want for your gown. With the closing of fabric stores it is becoming harder to source material locally.
Fees for desired alterations will be given, so you can decide on the best look that meets your needs and budget. A full estimate is provided at an in person consultation only.
The cost of alterations is based on the complexity of each task and your desired alterations you would like done. The cost of altering a wedding gown has a wide range: you can typically expect the total cost to be in the $500-$1,500 range. Typical alterations include: waist and/or bust adjustments, strap adjustments, a front hem, and a bustle. More complex alterations might include adding sleeves, re-styling a neckline or backline, drastic shortening. Be sure you budget that in when choosing a dress. A rush service option may be available for those that need a quicker turnaround time of 10 weeks or less for an additional fee of 50%. Like most bridal seamstresses -I work out of my home office space. You will be provided with directions and welcome information with your appointment confirmation details.
